Out of 673 students matriculated recently by the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun for 2023/2024 academic session, 429 were female students constituting 63.7 per cent of the admitted students.
Impressed and overwhelmed, The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Akeem Lasisi, during the matriculation ceremony said, “I must especially felicitate with female students who constituted 63.7 per cent out of 673.
” This is the confirmation that our University has keyed, from the onset, into the era of advocacy for girl-child education and female leadership,” added the VC.
Professor Lasisi, disclosed that 2069 candidates had applied for admission but only 673 were granted admission.
Speaking further he congratulated the matriculants and parents for being the successful ones among the applicants.
To justify the labour of their parents, the VC urged the new students to be diligent in their studies, imploring them to go forth with courage, hope and knowledge to achieve greatness.
Enumerating the achievement of his administration, he disclosed that Faculty of Basic Sciences, Health Centre, Science Laboratory Building, Library and the University Teaching Hospital have been constructed.
Professor Lasisi stated that all the constructed structures shall be put to use by next semester, as others such as the Senate Building, the College of Medicine and the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory were in the pipeline.
