The Nollywood star and producer of ‘JagunJagun,’ Femi Adebayo, has expressed his excitement over government’s effort at giving grant, as well as improving the capacity of the young talents in the Nollywood industry.
He described the effort as one of the high points of the recently conducted Programme Announcements Event for the upcoming 12th African International Film Festival (AFRIFF), saying it was engaging, as well as fulfilling.
Adebayo expressed this on his X handle formerly Twitter, adding that he was invited to speak as one of the panelists during the programme which had Governor Babajide Sanwo- olu of Lagos State as the special host.
The Founder of AFRIFF, Chioma Ude, disclosed in Lagos that the festival with the theme, ‘Indigenous to Global 2.0,’ would focus mainly on promoting and projecting indigenous contents to the global audience.
Speaking during the occasion, Governor Sanwo-olu promised “we commit our resources and time to whatever that has to put the State and nation’s creative industry on the global stage.”
He added, “the creative industry is the only industry that can flog all the shortfalls that we have, an the industry that knows no boundary.”
The 12th AFRIFF has been scheduled to hold from Nov 5 to 11, 2023.
