Four Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) students have won the first prize in the 2022/2023 Eco-Friendly Innovation Challenge Competition Edition 3 organized by the Nigeria Institute of Civil Engineers (NICE) for its students’ affiliate (NICE’SA).
The OAU-CE team comprises Gbolahan Afeez Adigun, 500 level; John Kolade Akande, 500 level; God’sfavour Folakunmi Olumuyiwa, 400 level ; and Lukuman Oyewumi Mufutau, 400 level; all in the Department of Civil Engineering.
The essay competition was entitled “Impact of Climate Change on Civil Engineering Infrastructures” in which the team’s essay, selected panel of judges from NICE and other industry experts, was commended for being original, well-researched and concise.
According to the University the victory from the four engineering students is a testament to the high quality of education and research at OAU.
The institution also described the victory as a recognition of the importance of Eco-Friendly Innovation in the field of Civil Engineering.
