The Nigeria former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, is dead.Na’Abba died in the early hours of Wednesday at a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory at the age of 65.According to a report, he died after being ill for some time.
According to the report he struggled with a prolonged illness as a result of which he was flown abroad for treatment, spending some months before returning to Nigeria.Family sources said the former Speaker would be buried today in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
Na’Abba succeeded in becoming the Speaker of the House of Representatives following a certificate scandal that led to the exit of the First Speaker of the Fought Republic, Honourable Salisu Buhari.Born on September 27, 1958, Na’Abba studied Political Science at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, graduating in 1979.
His time as the Speaker witnessed robust legislation, having being seen as a torn in the flesh of the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.Na’Abba championed an impeachment move against Obasanjo over a ‘third term’ agenda but which didn’t succeed.
