The recent pledge by Afrobeats award-winning singer, David Adedeji Adeleke aka Davido to donate the sum of N300m to orphanages in Nigeria has attracted commendations and knocks from social media commentators.
While some commended his philanthropic gestures as a good attitude, others condemned his action.

Reacting, Mibanti wrote, “God bless your heart Kind David!” while Abazz noted, “Davido has been giving to the orphanage long time ago, it didn’t start today. God bless him abundantly.”
Writing O.G.B expressed that nobody could match Davido or come close to him in giving, describing him as the best in the world.
However, Seun stated that he could not be impressed by the singer’s largesse, as Wizkid Soldier asked why Davido had not been able to pay the people he is indebted to.
Davido announced the generous donation of mouth-watering sum of N300m to orphanages in Nigeria recently.
He made the announcement on his microblogging X site, saying the donation was his annual gift to the country, and adding that the detail of disbursement would be known.
His words, “I and my foundation pledge the sum of N300m to orphanages around Nigeria…as my yearly contribution to the nation…details of disbursement tomorrow.”
