Maria Carey, a world class American diva, has expressed her deep mourning for Tony Bennett, the nonagenarian American music icon, describing him as one of the world’s legendary singers.
Carey wrote in her Twitter handle, “Rest in peace Tony Bennett. It was such an honor to work with one of the world’s most beloved, respected and legendary singers of the past century. We will miss you.”
Replying to Carey’s comment, Flaming Finger expressed about Bennett, “Though I am old school Rnb music lover and performer, I loved Tony Bennett singing…Tony’s vocal coloration gave a song an unforgettable melodic flavour.”
Also writing about Bennett, Lonely Stroker commenting on Carey’s Twitter handle stated, “If I could I would love you in my next life. I don’t really care about tomorrow.”
While Michele L. said of him, “Rest in peace Mr Tony Bennett. Thank you for the memories and the music. The Bell will always ring for you.”
In a career that spanned eight decades, Bennett, who died July 21, sold million of records and won 20 Grammys, including a lifetime achievement award.
Bennett died in his hometown in New York of none specific cause at age 96, but he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016.
Bennett’s death was confirmed by his publicist, Sylvia Weiner in a statement to the Associated Press.
