The Minister for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has promised to do all that could be done to support the Nollywood veteran, Zack Orji, who is bed-ridden at present.
This was contained in a statement by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Nneka Anibeze.
The Minister added that the support will involve prayers and other means available to ensure that the leading actor survives the ailment.
Calling on Nigerians to offer their support for the actor, she disclosed that Orji was operated upon at a private hospital in Wuse, Abuja on January 1, 2024 for brain surgery.
Musawa, during her visit to Orji, was full of sympathy for the actor, saying, “We solicit the collective prayers of all Nigerians because he is like a part of our families.”
Describing him as a national treasure, the Minister stated the best that could be done for Orji is to support him to have the best treatment.
“This is not only for the Ministry which I am representing. You know Zack Orji has been in the industry for decades. This is a man who has given his time and effort to entertain Nigerians,” she expressed.
“He is one of the individuals who laid the foundation for Nollywood and the film industry in Nigeria but now he is sick and the least we can do as an administration is to give him all the support through prayers and to ensure that we save his life,” said the Minister.
Orji is receiving treatment at a private hospital after being attended to at the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital, Abuja, where he was rushed after slumping on the eve of New Year.
