The adopted daughter of John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu, Jasmine Chioma Okeke-Agwu (formerly Okafor) has hinted how his adopted father had 15 successful surgeries while in sick bed.
This was made known in an emotion-laden statement Jasmine penned on her Instagram page, relating how her late father struggled with death.
She revealed how those who were supposed to be with Mr Ibu were nowhere to be found during the late actor’s trying time.
She added, “The pain you endured in the last days, you did it with a smile. I’m not mourning your death, I’m mourning all the pains you had to endure, over 15 successful surgeries, you are indeed a fighter. You fought death severally until its claws successfully overpowered you.”
Jasmine lamented that every single good he showed was repaid in hundredfolds with evil from the hands of the same people who were never there when you needed them most, referring to Mr Ibu.
She disclosed that even though her late father promised her that the day he would speak, the world would listen, those words to be spoken did not see the light of the day as a result of his demise.
“Now I am broken because that day is never coming, maybe the stories will never end, maybe the bullying will never stop but I know and I’m grateful for the ray of hope you gave me even when you felt hopeless,” she expressed.
Jasmine said of her father that he would forever be remembered for the love he gave, and the laughter he brought, saying she was grateful that she was able to give back the love till the end.
Mr Ibu died of cardiac arrest after a prolonged illness that took his legs through amputation.
