Naira Mutilation: Davido Feels for Cubana Chief Priest

Following the arraignment of Paschal Okechukwu aka Cubana Chief Priest in the court over the allegation of mutilation of Naira notes, the Nigeria Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has expressed concern over his arrest and possible jail.

Davido wrote on his social media page recently, expressing his disbelief that his friend could be jailed for six months on an allegation of Naira abuse while responding to an Instagram post by Cubana Chief Priest.

Cubana Chief Priest had written on his Instagram page, stating, “Seeing all your messages and love, I’m so humbled. Now it’s confirmed CP has no small money. Na water.”

An Instagram celebrity and socialite, Cubana Chief Priest was arrested for an allegation which bothered on Naira abuse, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the socialite who was arrested at the Federal High Court Lagos on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare.

The anti-graft agency filed a three-count charge against the celebrity for abusing Naira at a social event, an act that is contrary to the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

However, after pleading not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N10m with two responsible sureties in like sum who must be gainfully employed with the federal or state government, and whose grade level must not be less than 16.

The sureties must have landed property, the document of which must be verified by the court, as the Cubana Chief Priest must also submit his travel passport to the custody of the court.

Meanwhile, he has been released to his lawyer, but his bail condition must be perfected within seven days.
