Both Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, and University of Birmingham, UK have collaborated to discuss prospects and opportunities for their medical students.
This was disclosed in a publication on Research Symposium for Medical Students to be held in OAU signed by the Chairman of the symposium and Dean of Faculty of Clinical Sciences OAU, Professor O.A Sowande and Coordinator, Professor A.O Adisa of the Department of Surgery.
To sustain the partnership, the two institutions will be facilitating the symposium on basic research for all their medical students, discussing prospects and opportunities for them.
Following this, a team of researchers from the University of Birmingham will be visiting OAU for two days.
The symposium is to be held September 14, 2024 at the Clinical-Skills-Lecture Theatre along OAU/OAUTHC link road.
The symposium will introduce participants into the global surgery field and discuss opportunities for collaboration.
Global Health in general and global surgery in particular is rapidly gaining and impacting healthcare, research and policies across the world.
Scholars to serve as resource persons at the symposium comprise Dr Dimtri Nepogodiev, Dr Virginia Leddo, Dr Omar Omar, Dr Maria Picciochi, Dr Mike Bahrami-Hessari, all from University of Birmingham, UK, and Dr Olalekan Olasehinde from OAU, Ile-Ife.
