The Afrobeat sensation, David Ikubor, professionally known as Rema, went home with three awards at the 16th Headies Award held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta on Sunday September 3, 2023.
The singer and rapper won the awards of African Artiste Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and Digital Artiste Of The Year with his hit single, ‘Calm Down.’
Another feat came Rema’s way as he made an impressively thoughtful speech calling on Nigerian artistes to support Nigerian institutions.
Also winning awards was Asake who got the Next Rated award, as well as the Album Of The Year award through ‘Mr Money The Vibe’ which was his debut album, and which made him the first male artiste to attain such an accomplishment.
Others who won awards among several were Burna Boy who got the Afrobeat Single Of The Year, with his hit song ‘Last Last,’ and The Best R&B Song.
During the event filled with pomp and ceremony, Wande Coal, Blaqbonez, Seyi Vibes and Odumodublvck gave their best as they thrilled the audience with their exhilarating performances.
