President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged all managers and stakeholders in the education sector, tertiary institutions in particular to join forces with the government to ensure that tertiary institutions do not experience prolong industrial action again.
Tinubu stated this recently at the 27th Convocation of the University of Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory.
Delivering the president’s speech, Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Honourable Zaphaniah Jisalo regretted the hardship and distruption the prolong industrial action has caused the university education in the country and the students as well.
The president warned that government alone could not carry responsibility of funding education in the country.
” ..The situation has been exacerbated by harsh realities of recent global and national economic down-town, complicated by the Covid -19 Pandemic. Therefore, the time has come for all stakeholders in the education sector, including the students, staff, union, parents and guardians, the public and private sector, to coalesce around the concensus that education is the responsibility of all and sundry, he added.
