The University of Ibadan has made effort to prepare its students to be electronic governance compliant.
According to Ademola Ajao, the step is one of the efforts of the institution to meet up with the demands of global change and effect the smooth running of the institution.
This was made known at an event entitled ‘E-Governance/Virtual Communication and Infographics organized for the management staff of the Registry, Bursary, Internal Audit and Information Technology and Media Services (ITEMS), and sponsored by the UI Marcarthur Foundation Liaison Office which came up at the Marcarthur Building, UI.
Speaking at the event, Prof Ezekiel Olusola Ayoola, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale at the event expressed that the training will prepare graduates that will address national development challenges and broaden the university connection with the public private sectors.
He added that the development would also build connection with other universities in Africa and beyond.
Professor Ayoola said the Covid-19 pandemics has compelled the University to conduct some of its activities online, adding the Senate of the institution had formally adopted and approved a blended learning approach as a way of meeting the challenge of the time to structure the University learning system.
“The need to embrace digital application has therefore become imperative. Today this workshop is adding more value to the already existing culture of e-governance and e- administration been put in place in the institution,” said Professor Ayoola.
Speaking, the Registrar, Mr Ganiu Saliu, added that the workshop will impact useful contemporary skill to the management and staff of the Registry, Bursary, Internal Audit and ITEMS so that they could adopt best practice in a collaborative manner.
