Afrobeats singers have received multiple BET nominations as the organizers prepare for the 2024 ceremony, scheduled for June 30, 2024. Ayra Starr leads the pack with three nominations: Best New Artist, Best African Art, and Best Female Hip Hop Artist for her song “Comma.”
Additionally, Grammy Award winner Burna Boy was nominated for two categories: R&B/Pop Act and Best Hip Hop Act.
Tems was nominated for Best Video Director and Best Gospel/Inspirational Song for “Me & U.”
Davido and Lojay were nominated for the Viewer’s Choice Award for their collaboration on Chris Brown’s “Sensational.”
Asake was nominated for Best International Act, while Seyi Vibes was recognized as Viewer’s Choice Best International New Act.
Globally, American rapper Drake led the way with seven nominations, followed by Nicki Minaj with six, and J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monet with five each.
The 24th BET Awards will take place on June 30, 2024, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.
This is to celebrate achievements in entertainment and honor music, sports, television, and movies.
