CIIN stands for Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. It is saddled with the responsibility of determining the standards of knowledge and skills to be attained by persons seeking to become registered members of the Insurance profession in Nigeria and reviewing those standards.

Certifications
The qualifications framework offered by the institute is designed to provide a clear path for those wishing to develop their career in today’s insurance market.
Certifications are divided into three levels comprising Foundation, Intermediate, and Associateship levels.
Pass marks
Diploma and Advanced diploma written examination units require candidates to score 55 percent except for AF7 which is 60 percent.
Diploma multiple choice examination units require a 65 percent score, while for Certificate and Award multiple choice examination units, a candidate must score 70 percent.
Examination
CIIN organizes two diets of exams in a year. There are April and October diets, as course materials are sold at the secretariat of the institute.
Requirements
To qualify for Foundation Level, a candidate must possess a minimum of O’Level results and a combination of a maximum of two sittings.
To qualify for Intermediate Level, a candidate must possess a minimum of O’Level examination results and a combination of a maximum of two sittings.
To qualify for the Associateship Level, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 5 O’Level results in a combination of a maximum of two sittings.
To be eligible to sit for the exams, a candidate must have at least five credits in the Five O’ Level examination at not more than two sittings.
Career Prospects
CIIN holders are usually placed above others in the Insurance industry. They are placed in the technical areas of the job, and when you hold a CIIN certificate you become a hot cake in the industry. You are promoted immediately and are given other benefits.
Other organizations apart from insurance companies look for holders of CIIN to occupy their risk management/insurance manager’s sit.
