Facts about CIPM

CIPM means Chartered Institute of Personnel Management. It regulates the practice of Human Resources Management in Nigeria. CIPM was established as an umbrella Association of Practitioners of Personnel Management in 1968 as the Personnel Management Association of Nigeria.

The name was changed to Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria in 1973, and chartered by Act No 58 of 1992.

Exam Process
It organizes and administers online examinations which come up four times in a year (March, June, September, and December)

Examinations Date
Examinations come up on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, 2024.

CIPM exams are conducted in five stages which comprise Foundation, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 11, Professional 1, and Professional 11.

Routes
Candidates can go through Practitioner’s Route, Executive Route, Academic Route, Military and Para-military Route, Corporate Membership, and Membership Upgrade to become a member.

Registration
Registration began on April 22, 2024, and continues till May 31, 2024. However, late registration is scheduled for Saturday, June 1 to Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Late registration attracts a fee of N1000. Registration must be properly completed so that it will not be rejected.

Examinations Guidelines and Instructions
The examinations are conducted through the Internet. So candidates need to have a good internet connection, a computer with a functional Webcam, and an Exam photo card.

Once the examination fees are paid, they are not refundable.

Qualifications
The minimum educational qualification requirement for student admission is a degree (HND/Bachelor’s Degree) with a minimum of credits in five subjects at the Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) level, which must include English and Mathematics.

Undergraduates of the recognized institution, with or without MOU may be considered for admission, however, they will only qualify for induction into the Associate membership grade after graduating from the tertiary institutions.

Besides the SSCE qualification, undergraduates shall provide admission letters from their institutions to qualify for enrolment as student members of the institute.

Upon the completion of this programme, applicants admitted through this route shall be awarded a Professional Certificate in Human Resources Management and become an Associate Member (ACIPM) of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management.
