ICSAN stands for Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria. It is a foremost professional body charged to enhance the status and practise of corporate governance and administration in both public and private sectors of the Nigeria’s economy.
It is the only recognized body authorized in Nigeria to conduct the examination leading to the qualification of Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators.
Entry Requirements for ICSAN
To qualify to sit for ICSAN exams you need to have SSCE, GCE O’Level, OND, relevant first degree in any discipline or HND of any Polytechnic recognized by the Council, MSc, MBA, ACA, ACCA, ACMA, or any other professional qualification recognized by the Council.
How to be exempted from ICSAN
Those who don’t have first degree or it’s equivalent will start from the foundation stage. They must obtain minimum of five credits in O’Level which must include English and Mathematics.
Graduates with relevant first degree in ICSAN’s CPA, BSc/HND Accounting, Finance, and LL.B are exempted from all subjects in Foundation, Pre Professional and Professional Programme Part one (1) stages. Such degree holders Shall be required to write and pass all the subjects in Professional Programme Part Two (2).
Non-related degree holders are exempted from Foundation, Pre-Professional, Strategic and Operations Management and Management Accounting in Professional Programme in Part 1 and shall be required to write and pass six subjects, i.e. Corporate Law and Financial Accounting in Professional Programme Part 1 and the subjects in Professional Programme Part 2.
Those who hold professional qualifications such as ACA, ACAA, CIMA and CIBN are all exempted from all subjects in Foundation, Pre Professional and Professional Programme Part 1 stages. Such degree holders shall be required to write and pass all the subjects in Professional Programme Part 2.
When Exams are Held
The Institute’s exams are held in June and December of every year. The closing date for June Examinations is April 30, while the closing date for December examinations is October 31. Examination can be deferred at any time but this will attract a fee of N10,000 pet subject.

ICSAN Examinations are held in these venues:
Abuja, Benin, Ibadan, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Uyo and Kaduna.
