The College of Engineering Board, affiliated with COREN, is poised to initiate training sessions for Covenant University’s engineering students, aiming to strengthen the bond between the Engineering Industry and the Academic sector.
During a recent meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, Professor David Olukanni, leading the College of Engineering delegation, expressed gratitude to Covenant University’s management. He emphasized that the visit, as mandated by COREN, is geared towards involving industry experts in engineering activities, with the selected board members dedicated to this cause.
Among the board members present were Engr. Mrs. Aiboni Elohor, Managing Director of SNEPCO, assigned to the Chemical Engineering Department; Ambassador (Engr.) Oye Barberopoulos, Managing Director of Nigeria Foundries, designated to the Mechanical Engineering Department; and Engr. Opeyemi Oluwalade, Assistant General Manager, Subsurface Sahara Group, who will collaborate with the Petroleum Engineering Department.
Professor Olukanni praised the collaboration of the Heads of the Engineering Departments, who are eager to work with the delegation as they kickstart their initiatives.
In response, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo thanked the Board Members for joining Covenant University’s vision. He highlighted the university’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of leaders and praised its successful track record with over twenty thousand graduates making a significant impact. He also lauded the in-house indigenous curriculum, which has proven effective for the institution.
Professor Adebayo expressed gratitude for having the Engineering Board Members, recognizing their vast experience as a valuable asset. He believes their involvement will greatly benefit the students, the College, and the University as a whole, aligning to nurture future leaders.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye; Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, and other Senior Officers of the University.
