The Federal University Oye Ekiti has threatened to sue writers from any news medium if they will not stop dragging the name of the institution in the mud.
According to Wole Balogun, the Special Assistant on Media to the Vice Chancellor, the University warned writers to balance their findings.
This came about as a result of allegation levelled against the University for charging students with extra fees, asking them to pay for Final Year Brother (FYB) fee and staff fee.
While refuting the allegation, according to Balogun, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola said, “Fuoye Management never asked students to pay for FYB fee and staff fee.
“We should also note that students’ departmental associations are in all universities and whatever they mutually agreed to do for themselves as part of their social life on campus is first of all their own decisions and not management’s, added Professor Opoola.
Speaking on final year students’ projects binding, Professor Opoola hinted that the university directed the final year students to do their bindings in the university printing press to ensure that the projects have quality and that they meet up with the standard and uniformity of colours which vary from faculty to faculty.
