The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will not be accepting diploma certificates not quality-assured by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
This was contained in the weekly bulletin by the Board published by the office of the Registrar.
The Board also added that any diploma certificate not approved by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and not awarded directly by any of such institutions and signed by the Vice Chancellor and/or Registrar of the university on the authority of the Senate is unacceptable.
The decision was taken following a barrage of requests for recognition from some institutions awarding universities diplomas in affiliation with some universities.
JAMB said it accepts diplomas only from degrees awarded by institutions based on the agreed-upon standard by some established boards and commissions.
It would be recalled that the Board had raised alarm on discovering fake results numbering up to 1,665 fake A’ Level certificates during the 2023 Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise.
Meanwhile, the Board has inaugurated a joint relationship committee meeting of JAMB and the Computer Professional (Regulation Council) of Nigeria (CPN).
The development is to strengthen the preparedness of the Board for a seamless 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The committee, according to the Acting Director of the Information Technology Services Department (ITS), Mrs Funmilola B. Usman, was constituted early enough to ensure that the deployment of relevant technologies and experts ran smoothly during the exercise.
