Both Lagos State University (LASU) and University of Sierra Leone, formerly Fourah Bay College, are seeking ways to partner in knowledge sharing and staff exchange.
This was disclosed recently as the Acting Vice Chancellor of LASU, Professor Adenike Boyo, welcomed the representative of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone and Dean of the institution’s School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Fraizer Williams to LASU’s Senate Building, main campus, Ojo.
Professor Williams, while speaking, lamented that since the ravage of civil war in his country, the institution has suffered depletion in human capital, which it had yet to recover from.
On this background, he solicited LASU’s support to bolster the teaching ranks of the University of Sierra Leone.
Responding, Director, Centre for General Nigerian Studies, Professor MOB Mohammed, informed the Acting VC and members of the management of the the two universities that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the two institutions are already yielding fruits as three professors from LASU currently supervise projects at the Sierra Leone University.
However, the Acting VC, Professor Boyo, declared the readiness of the LASU to build on existing partnership by providing all assistance required to bolster the personnel of visiting institution as requested by Professor Williams, expressing the desire by LASU to welcome students from the University.
