The Head of Department of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering, University of Lagos, (UNILAG), Dr Faith Babalola, has re-affirmed the commitment of the department towards grooming world-class graduates who would provide solution to national problems.
Dr Babalola said this during the celebration of the Golden Jubilee (50th) anniversary of the department in the institution.
She stated that members of staff, irrespective of cadre, have remained high-spirited and committed since the establishment of the department in Oct. 1973.
Dr Babalola solicited help and intervention from stakeholders so as to keep the department on its path of raising graduates who would continually fly the flag of the department while meeting global needs, making continental impacts and making UNILAG and the nation proud.
However, she decried poor funding which, according to her, is the bane to infrastructural development, improvement on training gadgets, equipment and technologies, and reduction in staff strength due to relocation and retirement without replacement.
