Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, has joined numerous other Nigerian higher institutions to prohibit the use of cars and other vehicles on the campus by their students. According to the statement issued by the Registrar of the University, Kayode Ogunleye, the decision which was reached at the Management meeting held on April 19, 2023, was prompted by the resolve to rid the university of traffic jam on the campus.
In addition to banning the use of cars, the use of tinted vehicles has also become a no go area for both the staff and students of the university.
The institution also directed that unauthorized vehicles parked at various locations on its campus must be removed immediately.
Vehicle with no registration numbers must not be brought into the environment of the university, likewise learner drivers are to place learners permit on their vehicles.
Just like Lautech, several other Nigerian higher institutions like Delta State Polytechnic Ogwasu Uku, Federal University of Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, the Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State and Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, have forbidden their students from driving cars and using power bikes in the university premises.
