The death of Stanley Nwanne, a final year Medical Laboratory student of University of Calabar, Cross River state, is still shrouded in misery.
Up till now, nobody has been able to ascertain the cause of the death of a boy who, before his death, was preparing for his professional examination scheduled for May.
Stanley’s friends were at crossroads over what could have warranted the sudden demise of their friend who maintained good academic standing as at the time of his death.
The ill-fated student was described as an easy going person who was full of life.
He was found to have taken his life by hanging after his cousin saw him with a rope wrapped around his neck, dangling in the toilet in his apartment located outside the university campus.
Alarmed, his cousin alerted the neighbours who rushed him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
To a therapist, perhaps Stanley might have slipped into depression. Depression is accompanied by anxiety and low self-esteem, and then negative thought of wanting to commit suicide.
