The Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has said that the N25,000 provisional wage increment announced by the Federal Government (FG) will capture all categories of workers.
This was Gbajabiamila’s response to lots of comments making the rounds on Twitter on the issue of only low-income workers being considered in the increment.
The Chief of Staff said there is nothing like low income, median income or high income, saying, “There was a lot of chatter on Twitter about the issue of low-income workers only falling into the category of the provisional wage increase.”
“We did communicate with the President and he quickly said and agreed that all categories of workers will be given the wage bill,” Gbajabiamila stated.
President Tinubu had announced in his independence day broadcast that for the next six months, the average low-grade workers shall receive an additional N25,000 per month.
The N25,000 wage increment was also tabled before the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Unions Congress ( TUC) when they met with the FG delegation on Oct. 1 in a bid to averting an indefinite nationwide strike declared by the labour starting from October 2.
