The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has lauded the recent contribution made by the Chief of Staff to the President, Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila, describing it as the ideal New Year’s gift for the university. The donation, a conference centre, was officially inaugurated during a ceremony held on Tuesday at LASU’s Ojo campus in Lagos State.
During the event, Prof. Ibiyemi expressed the historical significance of the day for LASU, emphasizing the university’s gratitude for the generously donated edifice from Gbajabiamila. She commended his philanthropic spirit, noting that his name would forever be etched in the university’s history due to this substantial contribution.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the positive impact the facility would have in addressing critical infrastructural needs on campus. Additionally, she emphasized its role in providing suitable spaces for administrative and social activities, catering to the growing demands of both staff and students.
Prof. Ibiyemi extended appreciation to the state government for its ongoing investments in infrastructure and facilities across the university and its various campuses. The unveiling ceremony of the “Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre” was officiated by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
It is noteworthy that Gbajabiamila had previously shown support to LASU through contributions such as a wifi facility and equipment for the digitalization of university records.
