The war ravaging Sudan, leaving Khartoum, its capital, in tatters due to fusillade of bomb, has left many Nigerian students in fears. Some of the students who have looked up to the Nigerian embassy for evacuation, but who have not been able to secure the help are disappointed.
The situation, as the war escalates, has frightened parents, relatives and guardians back home because regular updates from the Nigerian embassy that will alley their fears is unavailable.
One students, Umar Farouk, speaking to a news agency alleged that the Nigerian Embassy had yet to update them of the situation on ground as compared to other countries like Cameroon, Kenya and Niger Republic which update their citizens.
Some of the students, who now scamper for safety, wonder why their government will abandon them at this critical time.
One report obtained says all Nigerian students are safe, but any possibility of all the students being evacuated is ruled out as Khartoum airport is closed down.
Explosions rocked Khartoum, Monday, in a war between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a rebellion group, and Sudan’s Army who have clashed in the capital and other cities.
At present, more than 180 people have been killed said United Nations (UN) envoy as European Union (EU) has been calling for ceasefire from the warring parties to halt the violence as civilians urgently need it to be safe to allow for mediation.
The EU is also working to persuade both parties to be mindful of humanitarian pause and encourage dialogue.
