The Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, Professor Ramota Olayinka Kareem, has pledged on behalf of the university to adhere to all National University Commission’s (NUC) guidelines.
Likewise, the Registrar of the University, Mr Abdulkareem Sheriff added that the University would abide by the directives of NUC and would not go against the law governing private universities.
These pledges were disclosed when Professor Kareem paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed recently.
Expressing her gratitude to be at the NUC secretariat to seek for support as she begins her five-year-tenure, Professor Kareem promised to give her best and set a pace in the growth of Fountain University.
She said Fountain University has about 1000 students, saying the results of four programmes of the last accreditation exercise was released to her and expressed her appreiation to God and the Commission.
She expressed her commitment to the ideal of Fountain University, promising her hand of friendship to NUC.
In his remark, Professor Adamu congratulated her for achieving the feat, saying he was aware of the infrastructural development which had taken place in the institution.
Professor Adamu spoke further that in spite of having 222 universities across the country, less than 20 of them have female vice chancellors, noting that Fountain University remains one of the private universities rated high by NUC.
He however encouraged the new VC to be proactive in running the University.
Fountain University was established by Nasru-lah-11-Faith Society (NASFAT) in 2007 and has four colleges.
