At a moment when discrimination against physically challenged is becoming unpopular, Umoru Precious, a student of Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, is decrying an unfair treatment meted out to her by the school because of her deformed posture.
As a result of what Precious considered as unjust, she is calling out to human rights organizations, members of the public and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to come to her rescue.
According to her, after being offered admission, and having passed all the physical screening and interview, she proceeded to pay the school fees amounting to the sum of N335, 000 by instalment.
However, upon resumption she was ordered to vacate the campus on account of her having a bent physique.
Precious is aggrieved that she had already started attending lectures on Monday, only to be ordered out of the school on Wednesday.
At a media chat she expressed that she wanted rights organizations and the public to look into her case, wondering whether it is not within her right to access education, and why the school will collect fees from her when it knew already that she was not fit for admission.
