The University of Ibadan has refused to grant admission to candidates who will not clock 16 years by the time the institution conducts its matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session.
This was disclosed through a special notice issued by the authority of the University and signed by the Registrar, G.O Saliu.
The institution instructed candidates who fall within this category to write officially to the Admission Office (Undergraduate) for deferment of admission to the 2024/2025 academic session.
These students are to attach their letters of evidence of payment of the acceptance fee as part of the requirements for deferment.
It was stated in the special notice that candidates should also know that the deferment of admission is only for one academic session, and that eligibility for resumption is subject to their being 16 years before Matriculation of the academic session.
It will be recalled that UI had announced that it would conduct its Matriculation ceremony virtually, which some students opposed.
Meanwhile, The student union government of the institution waded in by appealing to the Vice Chancellor and the University authority to conduct the ceremony physically.
