A University of Ibadan Nursing student, Favour Ojo, has emerged as the winner of the 2023 National Drug Dosage Calculation Competition for Nurses (NDDCCN), clinching a cash prize of N500,000.
Also, Akinyinka Rebecca as well as Yakubu Jemilat, both Nursing students from UI, became first and second runners-up respectively.
The competition is geared towards improving best practices in medication safety among nurses, especially honing skills in drug dosage calculation problems, the organizers said.
Seven out of over 100 nursing students in Nigeria made it to the final stage of the competition that was held virtually.
The contestants comprised students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso; University of Ibadan, Ibadan; and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU).
They were drilled on questions relating to drug dosage calculations and Cardiovascular Pharmacology.
The founder, David Ogunlabi, while speaking, announced that the NDDCCN 2024 Bootcamp would play host to fifty nursing students for three days where they would be trained by experts in leadership, Innovation and research.
