Students of the University of Lagos have been warned against being swindled by fraudsters through email and messages.
This is contained in a statement signed by Head, Communication Unit, University of Lagos Management cautioning students, staff and all stakeholders against filling an email form.
The email, signed by one Mrs Olakunle Esther Makinde, had directed students to go through an attached document and fill out a form as requested.
The mail directed students also to click on a link to access documents and return the form within five days upon receipt.
However, the University had denied sending out any of such messages or email, advising all students and stakeholders to take precautions when interacting with email and other online communications.
The management expressed that it would not correspond with its students, staff and public using its custom email, address, etc.
Also it warned that the office of the Registrar of the University of Lagos is not a “Federal Secretariat.”
It advised students to watch out for what it called a subtle or sometimes pronounced grammatical errors common with fraudulent messages, and that they should ensure they confirm the authenticity of the email address and noted other nuances before clicking any such link.
