ABU Senate Building gutted by Fire

The Senate building of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was gutted by fire on Friday evening 1st, December 2023, seriously affecting some offices on the ground floor of the magnificent building.

The fire started around 4:15 pm, allegedly started in a small room housing an electrical distribution board on the ground floor of the university’s Senate Building and spread to other offices on the ground floor.

According to the statement released by the Director of Public Affairs Directorate of the university, Auwal Umar, “no injuries or casualties recorded; however, the distribution board and some obsolete public address systems have been consumed by the fire”.

It said the timely intervention of the university firefighters and security personnel brought the situation under control.
