The 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE ) kicks off from May 6 to June 21, 2024.
Consequently, the ultimate aim of any serious student sitting for this examination is to come out with flying colours.
However, coming out with flying colours requires lots of hard work that will earn such students A’s in all subjects.
Recording A’s in all subjects is achievable if you can adopt the following strategies:
A. Be familiar with WAEC Syllabus
Ensure you get hold of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) syllabus. Go through the syllabus and check what you are expected to know. Each subject has a syllabus of its own. The syllabus can make you read ahead, and place you in a vantage position to score A’s when the exam commences.
B. Plan How You Read
When you plan on how to read, it makes you cover all areas of importance. Have a schedule for each subject, and ensure you achieve a lot when you study. Don’t just study for the sake of study. Make sure you gain something tangible that will enhance your success.
C. Study Early
You must start studying early enough to cover lots of ground. If you start early, you will have studied ahead and read all the subjects you will sit for over and over.
D. Take Notes
You must make jottings during lessons so that you will have something to revise. There is a limit to what your brain can retain. Scribble points on sheets that you can revise later.
E. Practise Past Questions
As 2024 WASSCE approaches, study with Past questions to enable you to know the pattern with which WAEC asks questions. When you go through past questions, it prepares you on which questions to expect and how questions are framed.
F. Try Mock Exam
Mock examination is patterned after WASSCE itself; hence sitting for mock exams is like sitting for WASSCE, except that it is assessed and marked by different examiners. When you try mock, it gives you a hint of what to expect in WASSCE.
G. Come early and Listen well in Class
Cultivate the habit of listening attentively in the classroom. Avoid distractions so that you can have a clear understanding of what’s being taught.
H. Don’t be Nervous
Don’t be nervous before and during the exam. Be Composed. One way to avoid being nervous is to study well ahead of time.
I. Let your Writing be Legible
Let your Writing be clear for the examiners to read. Clumsy, illegible handwriting makes your work unattractive; and you may be punished for this Have good and readable handwriting.
J. Study all the Subjects
Study all the subjects you registered for because they will all make up for what you are required to possess as entry qualifications for various admissions. Consider all the subjects you entered as important. When you pass all of them they all count for the number of credits you might be required to obtain.
You can also do the following:
Buy and get enough materials. Buy recommended textbooks. Have a good study habit. Practice with past questions. Consult your teachers. Do research. Join tutorial classes. Sleep well and rest.
