Winners of the 6th Union of Campus Journalism, UCJ, University of Ibadan Annual ‘Fisayo Soyombo Inter-Varsity Essay Competition’ are set to receive cash prizes, with the top laureate awarded N250,000, the second-place receiving N150,000, and the third-place awardee taking home N100,000.
This competition, organized by the Campus Journalists of the University of Ibadan, aims to encourage undergraduate students from various Nigerian universities to contribute their perspectives on solution-oriented essays addressing national issues.
The recently announced 2024 edition of the ‘Fisayo Soyombo Essay Competition’ invites participants to explore the theme: “Blessed Yet Impoverished:
How Can Nigeria Solve Its Generational Corruption Issues?” Undergraduate students are encouraged to showcase their creative writing skills and vie for recognition in this initiative.
Prospective entrants are required to submit their essays and a copy of their school ID as separate PDF files via email to ucjunibadan@gmail.com, with the email subject line stating: “FISAYO SOYOMBO ESSAY CONTEST.”
The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, views this essay competition as a catalyst for instigating positive change and introducing innovative approaches to combating corruption in a nation grappling with prevalent corrupt practices.
