Students of Obafemi Awolowo University will be rewarded with N1million by Educational Opportunities for Nigeria (EON) at a competition scheduled for August 1, 2023 to come up on the campus of the University. This is contained in a statement issued by EON, stipulating the condition for 2023 scholarship programme being facilitated by the organisation.
The competition, according to the organizer, will be based or an Essay Writing Competition for students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The original essay of 1,500 words (3-4 pages), single spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font is entitled ‘The impact of Chief Awolowo Education Policy in Western Region.’
Submission will be made available to the website of the organization (eonscholarship2023.org @gmail.com) on or before June 30, after which the best 10 essays will be selected for presentation to a panel of distinguished judges and a live audience of faculty, staff and students on July 25.
After the event of July 25, three best essays will be determined and announced, while presentation of prizes to the winners will come up on August 11, where the winner will go home with N500,000.00, the first runners up with N300,000.00, and the second runners up with N200,000.00.
According to EON, essays should be original, as act of plagiarism will be penalised, while declaration of ownership shall accompany the essay, as participants are free to base their essay on either primary or secondary sources.
The submission will be judged by the steering committee of EON in the University, comprising distinguished members of the academic community.
