The Covenant University Community Development Impact Initiative Committee (CUCDIIC) Ota, in conjunction with Cisco Networking Academy, have empowered about 150 youths in digital education in Ota, Ogun State.
The youths were trained on Cinematography, Cyber security, Internet of Things (IoT), IT Essentials & Phone Repairs, Graphics, Python, Solar Panel and Web Design.
Speaking during the training, the Vice Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun Adebayo, expressed that as a responsible University Covenant was interested in the development of its host community, “thereby fulfilling one of the purposes of the establishment of a university; capacity building, which is one of the institution’s core values.”
Appreciating all the sponsors, Professor Adebayo advised the youths in Ota to take the knowledge and skills imparted to them seriously and take responsibility to empower others.
The Chairperson CUCDIIC, Professor Tayo George, the initiator of the programme expressed, “…we try as much as possible to reach out to our host community with impactful programmes and this is one of such laudable programmes.”
At the event, the Changemaker Award was won by Omotola Sunday Akinyeoluwa, while Smart Beyioku and Ireoluwatonde Fasanu clinched the Future Leader Awards.
