Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology Africa is excited to announce that it has extended the application deadline for the MEST Africa Challenge, aiming to encourage wider participation from all corners of the continent.
This opportunity is open to early-stage technology startups currently operating in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, and South Africa. Interested entrepreneurs are now welcome to submit their applications until October 16, 2023.
Participating in the MEST Africa Challenge holds substantial benefits for startups. The victorious entrant will secure a noteworthy USD 50,000 equity investment, propelling their business towards exponential growth. Additionally, both the winner and exceptional participants will gain access to MEST Africa’s expansive global network, which opens doors to collaborations, mentorship, and investment prospects. This unique platform equips startups to reach new heights in their journey and gain international recognition.

In 2022, Senegal’s dynamic B2B e-commerce startup, Kwely, clinched the top position at the MEST Africa Challenge. Over the years, this prestigious competition has served as a launchpad for outstanding startups hailing from various corners of the African continent. From Tanzania’s Kilimo Fresh and Ghana’s pioneering OZE to South Africa’s tech trailblazer, Snode Technologies, not to mention Kenya’s Waya Waya and Nigeria’s innovator, Accounteer—the challenge consistently highlights Africa’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.
Eligibility Criteria for MAC 2023:
– Monthly Recurring Revenue: $5k+
– Funding raised: Cumulative $1M or less
– Years of existence: 3 years and below
– Traction: At least 6 months of recurring revenue
– Founding team: At least 2 founding team members
– Registered in Delaware (This is preferred)
– Demonstrated traction in MAC Markets (Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal)
