The Ekiti State Government has provided free buses for students and workers in the Ikere-Ekiti area to ensure they can save on transportation costs.
The announcement was made in a post on the State Government X handle on Saturday, February 17.
According to the government, the decision was made to serve as a palliative measure to alleviate the current parlous economic situations faced by its citizens.
The post says, ” From Monday, February 19, 2024, Ekiti State Government will provide free bus ride services for students and workers in Ikere-Ekiti.”
It reads further that the free bus for students and civil servants was part of the efforts by the Biodun Oyebamiji-led government to cushion the economic hardship in the state.
The free bus ride had been introduced in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, however, a plan is in the pipeline to increase the fleet of buses given to students and workers in the state.
As contained in the post, the buses would ply major routes in Ikere-Ekiti and will convey students and workers daily to and from the school and workplaces.
According to the post, the government’s Largesse would help increase the productivity of the beneficiaries, help them save on transportation costs, and provide them with a safe commuting experience.
