For students with health issues, free Telemedicine services have been offered at University of Lagos for full time students of the institution. According to the authority of the institution, Telemedicine services are to be rendered at three booths which were commissioned Jan 12, 2023 as part of the University’s 60th anniversary convocation ceremonies, and donated by Chief Adebutu Keshington.
Telemedicine operates by accessing healthcare virtually and electronically, offering opportunity to students to engage in a chat with Nigerian Medical and Dental Council registered General Practice (GP) doctors on primary health challenges, as they obtain treatment advice by voice or video call.
Doctors on Telemedicine give medical advice, prescription and laboratory services, while they also make referral to UNILAG Medical Centre and their network.
A Telemedicine booth contains tablets, Mi-fi, blood pressure machine, oximeter, thermometer, weighing scales, drugs among others.
The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) will provide nurses who will be available at the booths everyday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and weekends.
Telemedicine booths are stationed at Moremi Hall, Shodeinde Hall and Idi-Araba campus.
