The Federal University Oye Ekiti is set to establish the faculty of Computing and Informatics at the Ikole Campus of the institution.
According to Femi Otitoju and Toluwanimi Bamgbola, the plan was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abayomi Fashina at a free medical outreach that took place in the palace of the Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti, HRM Adewunmi Ajibade Fasiku, to help the indigent in the community.
According to the Vice Chancellor, locating the Faculty of Computing and Informatics at the Ikole campus is a way of giving back to the community.
Professor Abayomi said, “I remember the last time I came here, one of my agendas was Agric business which is now in action.
There is an Agricultural green revolution in Ikole Ekiti, my administration has established a green revolution, and our farm produce is sold in Ikole community and its environs.”
The traditional ruler of Ikole, represented by High Chief M. Okunola, expressed his gratitude to the VC, saying Professor Fashina had done great things for Ikole community within the short time he assumed office.
He added that the community was asking for more Faculties and appealing to the VC that a faculty be named after their industrious son, Kolewole Barnabas, who died recently.
