ATSWA means Accounting Technicians Scheme West African Programme. It is designed to produce middle-level Accounting Technicians within the West African sub-region.
Aims
ATSWA is set to provide a recognized qualification for the accounting and auditing staff employed in the public sector, industry, commerce, and in various offices, or practicing accountants.
It is designed to meet the need for middle-level accounting personnel in the economy, most importantly, for accounting and finance departments of various government agencies and corporations.
The syllabus for ATSWA is divided into three parts which comprise four subjects.
When a candidate completes the ATSWA examinations, he/she is awarded a certificate.
It takes a minimum of 15 months for those with ordinary-level certificates to complete the three-level examinations, while it takes between six to 12 months for those with higher certificates to complete them.
Examinations Time
ATSWA examinations take place twice a year, in March and September. ATSWA is conducted by The Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (ABWA) every year.
Cost
ATSWA costs N7,500, however bank charges are not included. You can make payment through these methods:

A Chartered Accountant or Associate Accounting Technician’s (AAT) endorsement of your form and credentials on completion shall be needed.
