This was disclosed at the recently held 21st convocation ceremony of the institution where honorary degrees were conferred on notable Nigerians.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye, the expansion will involve spreading its tentacles into other education regions, as well as enhancing
the institution’s internalisation strategy.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, delivered the Convocation Lecture entitled Public Private Sector Intervention in Tertiary Education in Nigeria: Stimulus for Innovative Research and Development.
During the lecture, Akume emphasised the crucial role of tertiary education during economic growth and societal development.
Meanwhile, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Professor Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah, noted that the University not only produces skilled professionals for Nigeria’s various sections, but also serves as a
benchmark for global competitiveness through the dissemination of knowledge and innovation.
During the ceremony, the Founder and Chancellor of the University, Sir Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, commended the 2023 graduates for their well-rounded training, enabling them to compete globally.
