Experts in Medicine have expressed that Artificial Intelligence and Automation can serve great role in medicine and higher education process.
This was their submission as they gathered at the unveiling of the second edition of SUSSURRI Magazine and the fundraising ceremony for the revitalization of administrative processes and infrastructure at the College of Medicine (CMUL) University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The gathering was the convergence of various stakeholders across different levels of medical practices and education.
Speaking on the importance of AI, the Provost, College of Medicine, Professor Wale Anthonio Oke who represented the Vice Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola opined, “Artificial Intelligence is transforming every aspect of our lives from entertainment to healthcare…”
Professor Oke said further of AI that, “It has become pervasive in the lives of 21st century citizens and is being proclaimed as a tool that can enhance and advance all sectors of our lives.”
Also, the keynote speaker and founder of APIN Health Initiatives, Dr Prosper Okonkwo, represented by Dr Oluseye Ajayi, expressed the need for stakeholders across various sectors to embrace automation of processes in their operations.
Ajayi added AI could be used to develop personalised recommendation for products and services leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.
He emphasised the importance of technology and AI solution to the provision of tailor-made interventions to mitigate against poor treatment outcomes among others.
He submitted however that, “Our most pressing challenges can be solved in radically different ways a lot quicker and more cost-effectively with technology advancements like (AI) and machine learning.”
