All schools in Nigeria, including tertiary institutions will observe Monday, October 2 as public holiday.
Federal Government declared public holiday to celebrate 63rd independence day, an annual celebration to commemorate the day the country achieved her independence from the British Colonial government in 1960.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja on behalf of the federal government, congratulated all Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.
Speaking though Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the Minister reiterated government’s commitment to ameliorate all challenges facing Nigeria as a nation.
The minister also noted that Nigeria is passing through difficult times like many other countries across the globe.
However, this year’s 63rd independence celebration will be celebrated in low key considering the state of insecurity in the country.
