Respite may have come the way of indigent students in University of Lagos who have exhausted their food packages while examination approaches. A non-governmental organisation, Girl on Another Level (GOAL), recently partnered with the Students’ Affairs, University of Lagos to distribute essential commodities for them.
The aim, according to the organizers, was to provide succour for the students, and empower them as well.
Representative of the founder of GOAL, Mrs Usifor-Charity Agbonma, remarked, ” We are glad to see indigent students smiling with a sense of belonging and affection. Nobody grows or progresses alone in the journey of life,” urging the students not to be wasteful, and be determined to make a difference in life.
Speaking further, a member of GOAL’s Board of Trustees, Dr Toriola Femi-Adebayo, thanked the management and staff of the University for their support and platform provided for the initiative, saying the target and focus of GOAL included empowerment and welfare for the young people…”
Responding Professor Musa Obalola, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, appreciated the NGO for initiating the food support project, urging the current students to take a cue from the donor who returned to their alma mater to give back to students.
According to Professor Obalola, “Nobody has it all. No student is privileged to have enough food stuff at this time of the semester with examination fast approaching…the support being provided by GOAL will go a long way to provide succour to indigent students.”
