The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Akwa, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS, has directed that the New Peculiar Dues for the 2023/2024 academic session remain suspended.
In a statement released by the registrar of the university, Barrister Philomena Okoye, the vice chancellor directed the deans and the heads of departments to suspend collection of the New Peculiar Dues.
The vice chancellor also asked for the support of the principal officers to follow the instructions to the letter.
The university authority advised all students to remain calm and avoid any act that can disrupt the academic activities of the university.
News filtered in that students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Akwa may be planning to protest against the collection of New Peculiar Dues now that their parents are struggling in the challenged economy.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University is founded on the philosophy that knowledge should be propagated and disseminated to individuals without any hindrance.
