An undergraduate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment by the Federal High Court sitting in Akure.
According to the presiding judge, Hon. Justice T Adegoke, in a judgment delivered Monday, March 5, 2024, the defendant, Adesuyi Feranmi, was guilty on a two-count charge of conspiracy and examination impersonation.
Feranmi’s one-year sentence will run concurrently, each on counts one and two respectively.
He was given an option of N100,000 on the first charge, while he was also left with an option of paying the same amount on the second charge, making a total sum of N200,000.
Feranmi was caught impersonating one Sanusi Tunde at the point of biometric verification during the 2023 UTME in Ondo State at Amiable Nigeria Ltd CBT Centre, Owo.
Admitting to the offence, the convict was handed over to security operatives to be investigated where he was found to have committed an offence of examination malpractice and felony.
The examination malpractice and felony are contrary to section 10 of the Examination Malpractices Act cap E15, LFN 2004, and punishable under section 3(2)(c) of the Examination Malpractices Act Cap E15 law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.
