
In preparation for the Nigeria Universities Games (NUGA), the University of Jos, Plateau State, has shown its readiness to undertake the construction of an indoor Multi-purpose Sports Complex and the proposed Sports Pavilion.
This is contained in a press release signed by the Senior Deputy Registrar (Information and Publication) of the University, Abdullahi Abdullahi.
The two projects, which are situated in JT Useni Mini Stadium, Naraguta Campus of the University, are to be funded through the year 2023 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) Special Intervention and year 2023 Normal Intervention for the Department of Physical and Health Education.
The supervision of the Indoor Sports Complex will be handled by Citadel Development and Design Consultants Limited, while the supervision of the Sports Pavilion will be handled by Altigra Nigerian Limited.
Handling the projects to the contractors, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya, advocated timely delivery of the projects, and their execution regarding the desired quality and specifications.
According to the VC, the Indoor Sports Complex and Sports Pavilion are state-of-the-art facilities meant to serve Plateau State as well as Nigeria when playing host to national and international sports events.
The VC promised that the University would deliver the best NUGA games ever and that the institution was on track to fulfilling the mandate.
Speaking the representatives of both firms, Architect Umar Adamu and Bitrus Gambo respectively pledged that their firms would supervise the project with utmost diligence, ensuring their timely delivery, and adhering to the contract’s templates.
