The University of Lagos has unveiled a comprehensive welfare programme for blind and partially-sighted students.
This was disclosed by the Dean of the Student Affairs Division (DSA), Professor Musa Obalola, who met with the leadership of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Association of the Blind, led by Mr Lukeman Abolarinwa Salami and other key members of the association in his office.
According to Professor Obalola, the initiative seeks to establish and maintain a robust partnership with the Nigerian Association for the Blind, underscoring the University’s commitment to the well-being of the impaired students.
He shed light on the University’s effort to ensure that the right to tertiary education for qualified visually impaired individuals is protected and readily accessible.
Professor Obalola emphasised that the collaborative effort between the two bodies is geared towards encouraging visually impaired students to excel in their studies, reassuring them that their well-being is of top priority for the University.
